Good point Doug,

I too had used cPanel to install some of my blogs. Guess I won’t be doing that anymore.

I like the way that this product pre-installs most of the SEO plug-ins needed to run a proper blog.

Creating websites/blogs has really come a long way in the fast few years hasn’t it? I can remember having to hard code my sites to create them, but now it’s just so easy and simple… great!

As Lonnie mentioned above, users of cPanel can get a blog installed with a few clicks. The new WP2.7.1 makes it easier (automated) to go to the latest version. But as Alex points out so right, a cPanel automated system makes it more open to hackers as they can expect the settings. Getting all the SEO plug-in’s as well is a great benefit of Alex free SW offer….

Doug, using cPanel to install a blog was the way I started. It seem to be the only way to go and everyone was recommencing that as the way to install a blog.

However, lately Alex and others are advising against using cPanel. For the reasons you mentioned. I can’t speak for other web hosting companies, but mine always seem to be several versions behind on the WordPress updates.

So I don’t use it on new blogs anymore. I most likely will be working with WordPress expert that Alex Sysoef developed. There is a lot of material in this effort.
